This month we will have Molly Barratt-McCartney as our speaker. Followed by support groups

Molly Barratt-McCartney studied Early Childhood Education at Kent State University and received her bachelor’s in Child Development at Michigan State University. After starting a family, she left the classroom to better raise her family and volunteer in her North Oakland County community. She first visited PFLAG with her teen as a parent in need of resources to support her family nearly a decade ago. Along the way, Molly learned her daughter identified as male and continued attending PFLAG to best learn how to help her son in this transition.

Now with 2 grown boys, Molly wants to help other parents and families along their LGBT+ journey.  We need to share what it is like to raise a transgender kid and normalize the experience. Accepting and loving your child just the way they are is crucial to their well-being and your family’s stability. Molly hopes that by telling her story other parents will feel less isolated and in time be more likely to educate their communities as well.
