Having solved the poverty in America problem, the Catholic Church announces its new Anti-Gay Marriage website

Unable to sway the country that marriage is a church issue and true authentic Catholics should believe that this is God’s command, the US Bishops have gone the route of “sexual differences” to point out marriage should only be granted to one man and one woman. Their new non-profit website www.marriageuniqueforareason.org announced today regurgitates the same old lines, same old analogy (including Anita Bryant's dog & cat analogy)

From MARRIAGE: UNIQUE FOR A REASON PDF

Marriage is about love, but it’s about a unique love that only a man and a woman as husband and wife can give to each other.

But same-sex “marriage” is not merely wrong; it is impossible. When a government claims that two people of the same sex can be “married,” it is founding the law on a lie.

Civil authorities have an obligation to protect marriage because it is so central to the common good, but no one has a right to redefine it. Rights exist because of truth and MARRIAGE: UNIQUE FOR A REASON corresponding responsibilities. Truth matters.

For example, if a government — by a legislative decision, court ruling, or even by a people’s vote — were to pass a law saying that a cat is a dog, that would not make it true.

But it would make it very difficult, once the government assumed control over the very word, to teach the truth about cats to the next generation. Cultural power is the power to “name reality.” With same-sex “marriage,” civil authorities and others are proposing to change the very nature, meaning and purpose of marriage in the public square.

Where, oh where have we heard this before?  Oh yes, Rick Santorum

"Marriage existed before government. This is a napkin. I can call this napkin a paper towel. But it is a napkin. Why? Because it is what it is. Right? You can call it whatever you want, but it doesn't change the character of what it is.”

10. Why does the Catholic Church care so much about marriage?

…Marriage (or the lack thereof) affects everyone. Today, people all over the world are suffering because of the breakdown of the family – divorce, out-of-wedlock childbearing, and so on. Marriage is never just a “private” issue; it has public significance and public consequences. One only has to think of the connection between fatherless families and young men in jail to know that this is true…

The divorce rates for these “Unique Couples” marriages in America are 50% according to CDC.gov website.  It seems like the Catholic Church’s failure to keep “Marriage Traditions” alive hasn't work out very well, oh say, over last hundred years.

Perhaps we could let other people try something that the various branches of governments have already defined and failed?

 Respectfully submitted,

Jerry Langdon
